OMAN MEDICAL SPECIALTY BOARD (OMSB) LICENSING PROCESS OF ALL HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS:

Oman, or sultanate of Oman, is an Arab country located in south western Asia region.  The neighboring countries to Oman are Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen. Muscat is the nation's capital and largest city. All local and foreign professionals who wish to work in the medical field in Oman must obtain a professional license and register for the OMSB examination and has to undergo PSV verification of the documents.

In this blog I am explaining process of getting license in Oman for all health care professionals like Doctors, dentist, nurses, allied health professionals etc.

The process of dataflow verification and Prometric exam process has to do from applicant side. After successful completion of PSV report and Prometric exam then you can find an employer in Oman.

Documents Required for process:

STEP 1: PSV-DATAFLOW VERIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS

Documents Required for dataflow verification (PSV) -OMSB:

1. Passport copy

2. passport size photograph

3. Resume

4.Educational document- diploma or degree or masters  certificate (convocation certificate)

5. Mark list/transcript of studies whole year(need course duration)

6. Professional license  home  country  as well as last working country -should be valid . If expired need to attach renewed license. The professionals don't have licensing authority should get a letter from employer. You can contact Nursing manthra for that document model.

7. Experience certificate -based on professional qualification criteria -last 3 year experience  limited to 2 employers will consider one payment in dataflow . If you have to do other experience then additional payment will be added in data flow-Experience certificate should be issued by Human Resource manager /Administrator/Director of the facility. Not by other members.

8. As per OMSB requirements, any document issued from Oman is NOT required to be verified. Please submit alternate document in the relevant section.

                 Nursing manthra can assist you for your dataflow (PSV) verification process effectively without any issues. Please note that if any wrong entry can leads to negative dataflow report or unable to verify . Be careful when you enter all information's.

Below is the approximate amount for data flow. Amount will be based on number of documents to be verified .

So once you complete your PSV with positive outcome, you can apply for Prometric exam. Before the PSV also can write exam , it is your choice. I personally suggest to write exam after PSV, so that will get time for studying and pass at first attempt.

STEP 2-PROMETRIC EXAM BOOKING:

Prometric exam has to book through Prometric site. Please check the guidelines in OMSB site whether your specialty needs to write Prometric exam or not. Or even if you try to book exam your specialization shows in Prometric site that means there is exam for your profession.

    Cost for the exam depends on your professional title. For nurses it is 206 USD+ vat charges based on your card payment(in AED around 800 Aed it will be total including bank deduction charges).

Oman Prometric with minimum 50% (60% Much better)

                    Most of the professionals study materials are available with nursing manthra like for GP doctors, Nurses, Pharmacist , Other allied health professionals etc.

Now what to do? Most of the applicants stuck here with next step to get job. Now you have to get an employer in Oman, through job career site, skype interviews etc. Always check hospitals website for job vacancies and apply. If you have any relatives or friends in Oman seek there help also to find job.

STEP 3: FINDING A JOB IN OMAN ADN LCIENSING PROCESS BY EMPLOYER.

 1. Updated CV

2. Data flow positive report

3. GNM 4 yrs and Bsc 3 years experience required after registration with Nursing council(case of nurses)

4. Directly Apply for the job in hospitals in Oman. The hospital will be forwarded to MOH Oman for getting approval.

If MOH given approval----- Hospital will be conducted interview (mainly online interviews  if you are outside Oman)

5. If you  got  selected  by the employer  and they'll provide job offer

After offer letter, they'll be asked passport copy and passport size photo for getting visit visa. 

6. Employer will send you 3 months visit visa and flight tickets for Viva exam with MOH

7. The viva date will be taken by hospital only and not possible to get by individual candidate.

Regarding viva exam mostly based on our experience area and cardiac questions. Some times they'll give you a scenario based on that we need to give answers

8. Once reach into Oman we need to clear viva within 3 attempts if fail back to home country. Again after 1 year only you can try for license process with new application.

9. If  pass viva exam will get nursing registration license within a week. You can start practicing your profession with your license.
